  • Created to serve

What a wonderful reminder my devotion was this morning as we (TSA) is currently in disaster service.

You were created to served God.  The Bible says, "God has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10).  These "good deeds" are your service.  Whenever you serve others in any way, you are actually serving God.  God also reminds us that whatsover you do unto the least of these, you do unto me.

I pray for each of you on disaster duty that God will give you the right words of encouragement and the strength you each need to perform your particular job.

    Blessings<><

  • It's so good to be home

Arrived home around 2 am this morning after a four hour delay at the airport in Jacksonville, Florida.  This made for a really long day.  We got to the airport around 5 pm to turn the rental car in as we were due to fly out at 6 pm.  Then the delays starting coming in until it was after 10 pm before we departed for home.  What was really bad is everything and I mean everything closes in the airport at 6 pm, so no food, beverages or anything is available for sale and we had not ate before we got to the airport -- big mistake.

We have spent the last week with Tropical Storm Fay -- she just wouldn't go away.  I thought we were going to have to buy a boat just to get out of Florida and I understand she made her 4th landfall early this morning in the panhandle.  But we did get out and visit St. Augustine on Wednesday before she got really ugly.  But the surf was already getting rough even then.  But we got to spend alot of time visiting with the kids and one of  Ruth's brothers and his family.  They made us feel really at home -- Gilda is a wonderful hostess.  We went ahead and celebrated Lydia's 2nd birthday while we were together as it is Sept. 1st.  She is so girly-girl, she is all the time asking for makeup.  I went and bought her some play makeup and she was a sight putting on her blush and lipstick -- it is just to much for a little girl her age to be this prissy.  We bought her a necklace and earrings for her birthday and she was showing everybody how pretty they were.

Well it is back to work tomorrow, I wil post some pictures later of our trip.

    Prayer Request

    Good morning:

Please remember my mother-in-law in your prayers.  She fell Sunday afternoon and reinjured a knee that she had previous knee replacement on as well as some other injuries.  She will be moved today into a rehab facility for about a month.  She is 80 years old and not in real good health as it is.

My devotion this morning reads:  If you are facing trouble right now, don't ask "Why me?" Instead ask, "What do want me to learn?" Then trust God and keep on doing what is right.  "You need to stick it out, staying with God's plan so you'll me there for the promised completion" (Hebrews 10:36 - the message). Don't give up -- grow up!  How appropriate that sometimes we want to do things our way and not trust and wait on God -- remember everything is always in his time, not ours.

    Blessings to all!!

It is during suffering that we learn to pray our most authentic, heartfelt, honest-to-God prayers.  When we're in pain, we don't have the energy for superficial prayers.  God's plan for our lives involves all that happens to us -- including our mistakes, our sins and our hurts.  It includes illness, debt, disasters, divorce and even death of our loved ones.  God can bring good out of the worst evil.  He did at Calvary.

  • God said it

Everything around you -- all of creation -- exists because "God said it."  He spoke all into existence.  Without God's word you would not even be alive...  God's word generates life, creates faith, produces change, frightens the Devil, causes miracles. . . cleanses our minds, brings all things into being, and guarantees our future forever!!  Love and blessings to all<><
